Question: Do you hate homosexuals?

In sending His Son to die for us, God demonstrated His love for sinners (Rom 5:8), which includes all of us.  However the Bible also makes it very clear that sin is an abomination to God, and we should view it in the same way.

Romans 1:24-27 says that homosexuality is “sinful,” “unnatural,” “indecent,” and “perversion.”  Sadly, our society has reached the point where anyone who dares to agree with this is attacked as unloving and unchristian.

Those who profess to be Christians while defending homosexuality need to consider that, realize it or not, they are displaying the same attitude toward God’s word as Robert Williams, the openly homosexual Episcopal priest who wrote :

The point is not really whether or not some passage in the Bible condemns homosexual acts; the point is that you cannot allow your moral and ethical decisions to be determined by the literature of a people whose culture and history are so far removed from your own. You must dare to be iconoclastic enough to say, “So what if the Bible does say it?  Who cares?”

If we truly love someone who is involved in sin (whatever it might be) we will desire to help them repent and receive the forgiveness made possible in Christ.  We must also take care not to do this in a self-righteous or hateful way, but in a spirit of gentleness, lest we also be tempted.  (Gal 6:1)
